About Suriya Timeworks
Suriya Timeworks was founded in 2009 by Khun Suriya Phongsathorn, a watchmaker who had spent several years training under a master technician in Chiang Mai before settling in Bangkok. The workshop began as a small bench in a shared workspace on Sukhumvit and grew steadily through word of mouth among watch owners who appreciated a straightforward approach: look carefully, explain clearly, and only do what is agreed.
Today, Suriya Timeworks operates from a dedicated space on Sukhumvit Road, Khlong Toei, where a small team of trained watchmakers handles routine servicing, cosmetic refinishing, and complex vintage restorations. The workshop works across a wide range of calibres — Swiss and Japanese mechanical movements, dress watches, sports pieces, and older collectibles that require particular care and an understanding of their origins.
The workshop's approach has not changed much from its early days. Every watch comes with a written inspection summary. Work does not begin until the owner is comfortable with what is proposed. Timelines are realistic rather than rushed. For vintage pieces, original components are conserved wherever this makes sense. These are not policies we advertise — they are simply how we prefer to work.
Our Mission
To give every watch — regardless of its monetary value — the same considered attention: a thorough assessment, an honest recommendation, and work carried out carefully and without shortcuts.
Our Values
- Transparency — written estimates before any work
- Patience — we do not hurry delicate adjustments
- Respect for the piece — originality conserved where possible
- Honest guidance — we share what we think without pressure
- Community — part of Bangkok's wider horological community

How we work
Workshop Standards
Written Inspection Reports
Every watch receives a documented assessment before any repair or service begins. This outlines condition, recommended steps, and associated costs.
Precision Tooling
The workshop uses calibrated timing machines, regulated watchmaking lubricants, and professional movement holders suited to a range of calibre sizes.
Service Warranty
Completed service work is covered by a defined warranty period. The terms are explained clearly when work is handed back to the owner.
Secure Handling
Watches are stored in a dedicated secure area and handled only by workshop staff. We do not subcontract work to third parties without prior discussion.
Post-Service Checks
After servicing, movements are monitored on the timing machine over several positions to confirm rate stability before being cased up and returned.
Membership & Community
Suriya Timeworks participates in Bangkok's horological community and maintains connections with specialist parts suppliers across Thailand and abroad.
Watch Repair in Bangkok — A Different Kind of Workshop
Mechanical watches are among the few objects that still benefit from a knowledgeable hand rather than a replacement part. A well-maintained movement can run reliably for decades; a neglected one may stop long before it should. At Suriya Timeworks, we have focused exclusively on mechanical and automatic watches since the workshop opened, which means we are not trying to be everything to everyone — we do one thing and we try to do it well.
Bangkok is an interesting city for watch repair. The climate is warm and humid for much of the year, which places real demands on seals and lubricants. Watches that spend time in air-conditioned offices and tropical outdoor conditions cycle through temperature and humidity ranges that accelerate the degradation of watchmaking oils. Regular servicing — every three to five years for most mechanical watches — helps address this before problems become serious.
Vintage watch ownership has also grown considerably in Thailand over the past decade. More collectors are seeking thoughtful restoration rather than a quick clean, and are interested in maintaining originality rather than simply making a piece look newer. Our vintage rebuild service is designed for exactly this — it begins with a careful inspection, proceeds only with the owner's informed agreement, and aims to return the watch to reliable function while respecting its history.
We are based on Sukhumvit Road, Khlong Toei, which is easily accessible from both the BTS Asok and Nana stations. If you have a mechanical watch that needs attention, we would be glad to take a look and share our thoughts.
